lyrics

If you had listened to the words I said so long ago
I could have seen the rainbow leaking through my vertigo
and as the play held over yesterday
ascends toward the only vision left to me

I carve the hollow shell of blank tradition whereupon
You pin your hopes of someday winning sacred Babylon
But you can’t see through your own insecurity
to claim the soul of one so shadow thrown as me

It seems your battle plans have shattered on the rocks below
and as you mourn their loss another waits to bring you home
Amidst the night you seem to think that you are right
and still believe there is a God that’s on your side

Again the winners write the history books we swear upon
But if our words are clever lies disguised to hide our wrongs
Someday we’ll see what truly makes us disagree
I wonder how to fool the madman inside me?

Christianity — inhumanity
Our vanity leads the world insanity
Lost in ourselves — we strike the devil deal — into our hearts
Lost among the crowd — down the promenade
Answer to the proud — we kill ourselves for God
The right & wrong — once clear is now undone — as you lead us all

Can you see me?
None too clearly...turn off the static ocean
Can you hear me?
Almost nearly...smiling as you leak emotion
I can’t find the finish line to mark the entry of my trial
I can’t buy the last & final words you said to feign denial

Can you feel me?
On the freezing wind that cuts your calm resistance
Can you really?
Say you mean the things you said upon a time once

I can’t live within the fire of your past & future smile
I can’t quit until the mire swallows whole our dark design

Mutiny in Jonestown Washington

Influenced by classic 70's progressive rock bands like King Crimson, Van Der Graaf Generator & Genesis - along with late 60's psychedelia from The Beatles, Procol Harum & Pink Floyd (with a little 70's Black Sabbath thrown in for good measure), Mutiny in Jonestown has always sought to take these influences and synthesize them into something new.

The band has released 42 albums since 1987.
