Lazarus 03:44
Lyrics translated from Colombian poet Jose Asuncion Silva (1865 - 1896) "Come Lazarus", the Savior cried and out of that black tomb the corpse arose still in it's windingsheet Smell, felt, saw, grew aware uttered a cry and wept with happiness Four months later on the many shadows of dark twilight in the darker silence of place and time among the quiet tombs of an old cemetery This Lazarus was sobbing there alone envying the dead

If by your heart a dearest dream of lifelong sleeping came to your mind and left behind a feeling still, would you find a broken branch of laurel passion? The cloudburst has gone away leaving fog and dew, just what does this leave for you? Maybe time for time to hold out what is true? Tangible pane of looking back at passing thoughts seeks to remind your falling leaves of autumn dances The daylight will pass away leaving fears of night just why does this make you cry? Maybe nighttime steals lies from your eyes? Can you tell lies from cowardly agreeing smiles whether you feel the honesty or not Won’t change them, others may try to tell you what you’re thinking truly the images burned away leaving cold hard truth, just what does this mean to you? Maybe life requires lies to shelter your eyes?

Lyrics from the ee cummings poem, "if seventy" which is available on many websites.

Wickedness 06:20
Born into wickedness You stage an operetta How can you pick a side when you were born to follow till you die The spider spins an answer when questioned on the fly You seek to be theatre and play the marquee role as you cry You trace the blue of tunnel a vortex in conceived as all the hurt around you inspires make—believe you still can see With eyes that drink emotion You look from day to week The minutes tease your vision and rise to feticide you can’t hide And now you’re left with feeling too scared to dissipate as if you have an option but realize inside you cannot wait So now a question beckons as layers cast aside What is the nature of evil? and have you found a truth you cannot hide

As the broken exiles wander lost amidst the blue sky thunder Water streaming from illusion breaks the mind of resolution thought Shadows crying Longing for that peaceful feeling Hoping to at least keep dreaming Summer days are months away I hope they die before they find me here Ghosts are shining White as lightning Stay and fill my sight Looking for the light unbroken Incandescent, inconceived or Hazy mist ethereal so am I mad or have I seen too much? Cloudburst calling Supernature calls us all but only some can hear her talk The farther that we run away from ghosts the more we drown in yesterday Heaven falling ‘Seconds crawling Bring the sky to earth Locked into a transformation Wrought with loss and much temptation Mystery can shroud conclusions Angels gaze through your illusive eye Visions find me Death behind me Light will blind me sane

and Run 04:02
Run a whispered trail Catch the silent veil Pass an iron sail run into the evening sky and run. . .and run... Run a silhouette Taste the tears you get Say the word unsaid Waste the friends you met run into geranium aquariums of morning sky and run. . . and run...

Seems your reply is not enough to thaw the frozen waste of vivisect emotion ...and in your sullen image you paint the world (you will fall too far) as if your sudden temperamental sentiment (makes you different) from me and all your overbearing art.. .pornography (call to a god) ...you’re straining to poeticize the whispered lies (once and always who am) ...your planet glides into the dust you’ve left for us (passant malleus) And up your sleeve a captive world pretending mirth a darkly hidden cock crow search I seen the death you brought to those attached to you (draining life forces) provision made for providence which you have gave (did you not claim us all?) .must follow me or die in lost uncertainty (praise be My name. . . too late!)

Blew Angels 03:48
Even the darkest night lives with the pale moonlight And as I close my eyes why am I not surprised? Even an empty room feels the afternoon breaking the windowpanes making us all the same Why must I remain to play the game As your past at last may one day sound the same Picture a looking glass into a rainbow past Maybe a waterball would be nice after all Tune from a music box open another lock Waiting to be set free hoping eventually When you spin and then make final plans Summer flies and I am left alone to cry If the final image is lost in a never ending dawn frost It’s not a reflection on you or the rest who might think it true

Hung I on that windswept tree for 9 long nights Wounded by the very blade of Odin’s blood Offering myself to thee bound to this tree No man knows the roots I see or where they run We have read the book of runes Knowing as we sometimes do Empty words are treasured gold Playing for a saviours soul None gave bread nor gave me drink down to the depths I peered until I spied the runes with roaring cry seized them up and dizzy.. .faint at last I fell we have read the book of runes Knowing as we sometimes do Empty words are treasured gold Playing for a saviours soul From a word into a new world led by words From a deed into a new world led by deeds

And then I say there'll come a day when we might play To lose old friends who wish me weak 'cause I won't be Find a line within your heart stand for something right, be with me tonight I don't care what they may say I will find a way be my friend today And all I see won't be the same I've disowned shame And what I feel it surely counts it makes me real When the rain keeps falling off time has surely gone as I sing this song Sleep and dream of things to be together you and me learning to be free

A promenade from a picture show An ice parade to a hell I know You stand on your portfolio Misguided Queen of all below One last look was all that it took One final dial of self denial You seem to think that I should know my place in this scenario To bow my head in vertigo while basking in your afterglow Maybe before forevermore I can’t stay with you treating me this way A final smile shattered dream depicts the damage you have been You laugh but I know what you mean You think it’s fun abusing me Goodbye Ann I’ve done all I can Take yourself and live on your selfish shelf

Defunct 02:18
Lyrics from the ee cummings poem, "defunct" available on several websites.

DM+HC 04:21
I will decide just what I will do if you can abide by the unspoken rules and to my heart I must be true and yet it all depends on you You made a promise to not turn away I made a promise and here I will stay and count the hours and the days ‘till I can see you anyway How do I feel? I can’t say, I don’t know...but I know what I think and the dream that is so and I smile before I sleep... Will you come back if you know what I think? What would you say if you saw this blue ink? or knew the schoolboy fantasy which I have built for you and me...

Atlantis 04:00
Surface explanations can’t return my lost Atlantis Powder—blue directions cannot take me back To a time of learning, safety, a place to run to In a hornet’s nest I can’t turn my back Do they really tell me, tell me what they mean Words and actions that never resolve In this furnished hell allowances free Tell me why it’s so hard being me? Camouflaging feeling borrow a knife While the trusted couple steal your life Smile and tell you that they did it for you 29 years later learn the unpleasant truth What does a lone survivor do when he’s safe to find Atlantis before it’s too late?

Goodbye? 04:05
Trying to be lonely Just brings me down lately Can’t help but see everything in me… When will your face leave me Peaceful and quiet...dreamy Can’t help regret everything I see… Lost when you’re near Locked in a rage Seems like years not days How can I find Memories of old? Reclassify my soul Daytiming glass smiling Eyes of the night crying Still I remain trying to be...

Run to the north, to the north we’ll run To make our final stand as one Our wretched screams will light our way (I doubt we’ll live another day) When I am dead, promise me this No epitaph, no goodbye kiss The terror of their night—time ride Will be forever magnified Through empty hearts and heartless eyes They stumble through the countryside And find the blind Alive inside And huddled back against the wall with silver crosses Burn their dead to bless them all and count their losses We all are called to set the scene Burn bright for me Allhallows Eve

Come for the mining (the money desiring) to plunder on Venus and steal her lining The 7 foot creatures (distinguishing features) The 20 foot wall that won’t let me reach her The days, they are passing Provisions not lasting the creatures have gathered to watch my last—gasping For traps have been set our earth-greed forgets that we don’t belong here to die like the rest Trapped in the walls like a page under ink I can’t hear them laugh but I know what they think They won’t show their faces of passion or pink I can’t see them laugh but I hear what they think

about

This is the 9th and final Mutiny in Jonestown compilation album. This one is made up of tracks pulled from albums long out of print and unavailable - mostly because they contain cover tunes which would infringe copyright considerations if made public or for sale. These tracks do not appear on any other album currently available or previous compilation so are presented here virtually for the first time. The songs are presented in the order of most recent to oldest with the final song, "In the Walls of Eryx" appearing on the very first Mutiny in Jonestown album of the same name recorded live in the studio back in December of 1987.

about

Mutiny in Jonestown Washington

Influenced by classic 70's progressive rock bands like King Crimson, Van Der Graaf Generator & Genesis - along with late 60's psychedelia from The Beatles, Procol Harum & Pink Floyd (with a little 70's Black Sabbath thrown in for good measure), Mutiny in Jonestown has always sought to take these influences and synthesize them into something new.

The band has released 42 albums since 1987.
